Virginia had spent her entire life searching for the truth. When she finally found it in the pages of the most forbidden book in all of Romania, Virginia accepted the divine call to defend fellow followers of Christ against unjust persecution in an otherwise ungodly land.
For this act of treason, she was kidnapped, beaten, tortured, placed under house arrest, and came within seconds of being executed under the orders of Ceausescu himself. How Virginia not only managed to defeat her enemies time and again, but helped expose the appalling secret that would lead to the demise of Ceausescu’s evil empire is one of the most extraordinary stories ever told.
Exiled from Romania since 1988, Virginia frequently shares her story as the keynote speaker in large public forums—including public and private schools and universities—and has been featured prominently in media reports.
She was the focus of a full-length documentary and has been interviewed by Fox News, Heritage Foundation, BBC Radio, CBN, LifeWay – Chat with Priscilla, The NITE line, The Daily Signal, WFAA-TV Channel 8, Dallas Morning News, Point of View, Heritage Action for America, Glenn Beck, KCBI 90.9, Point of View, and Family Life – Dr. Jim Dobson.

Healthcare was Boone Powell’s business for 40 years.
Beginning at Hendrick Healthcare System in Abilene TX in 1980 and then heading Baylor Healthcare System, Powell enjoyed leading hospitals through many challenges.
One of his favorite projects involved 16 years with the nation of Romania as it was recovering from Communism. The medical and nursing staffs of Baylor Healthcare received international recognition for its medical excellence with the medical professionals of Romania.
Business Week magazine in 1990 recognized Powell as one of the 5 best Healthcare executives in the USA. He has received six honorary doctorate degrees from universities in the USA and abroad.
Powell has also served on several local and national boards. In addition to being active in their local churches, Boone and his wife, Peggy, have also supported personally and financially several ministries such as Young Life, (where he was on the board for 34 years), The Summit, which is an apologetics seminar for youth, Josh McDowell Ministries, Family Talk, various Prayer Ministries and several other Christian and civic enterprises.
In 1982, with the approval of their Dallas church, the Powells began The Nearly Wed program——a seminar based on biblical truths for engaged couples. At this date, thousands of couples have benefited from this initiative.
In their retirement, the Powells continue mentoring youth, teaching, writing, speaking and cooking old fashioned Sunday lunches for kids of any age.
Married 60 years June 7, 2018, Boone and Peggy have savored the love of family and friends.
